Professor and Head, Department of Community Medicine, Dr DY Patil Medical College, Pune · Medical Officer/Epidemiologist
Richard Kirubakaran is currently employed as Lead Epidemiologist with 3 analytics. He used to be a Research Scientist in Biostatistics at BVMC, Clinical Epidemiology Unit, Christian Medical College – Vellore. He is a member of the Cochrane methods group, Effective Healthcare Research Consortium – Liverpool UK, and Method support group on Indian first evidence-based guidelines/policy on Extra Pulmonary tuberculosis developed at AIIMS New Delhi.
He has more than 11 years of experience in the field of Biostatistics, Systematic Review and Meta-analysis. He has been a part of many Cochrane systematic reviews and Non-Cochrane systematic reviews in Reproductive medicine, ADHD, Paediatrics, Infectious diseases and Public health.
His major research interests include Evidence-Informed Healthcare, Meta-analysis, epidemiology and designing Randomised controlled trials(RCT). He has been involved in publishing over 30 systematic reviews; also serve as a peer reviewer for major journals.
He is active in teaching research methodology course with Department of epidemiology Tamilnadu Dr MGR Medical University, Biostatistics methods and systematic reviews in many academic institutions and professional organisations. He is also a consultant biostatistician for many other independent research projects.

A Doctor, academician and teacher for 32 years , a researcher with diverse interests spanning Autoimmune diseases, HIV medicine, Molecular biology, Proteomics, Health economics and Mathematical modeling, "Innovation space" is my current area of exploration.

Dr Cariappa is an ex- military Public Health Specialist with a personal passion for sustainable health promotion among people, in co-existence with their environment.
He is an alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, India, with a MD degree from the University of Poona. He has received Fellowship training in HIV / AIDS in the USA and is an active member of the Indian Public Health Association and the Indian Society of Malaria and Communicable Diseases. He has been an Associate Professor at the Department of Community Medicine at AFMC Pune and also at the Army College of Medical Sciences New Delhi. He has been on the Visiting Faculty at the University of Botswana at Gaborone, the IISER, Pune, for the MUHS- MPH program and with Govt Medical College Jodhpur. His areas of interest and expertise in Public Health are Mass Gathering Medicine, Environmental Medicine, Food Safety, Health and Behaviour Change Communication.
After 26 years of service in the Indian Armed Forces Medical Services, he is now with https://deltazuluconsultancy.com/ and works in an advisory capacity for the corporate sector, in translating technological advances to Health, Environmental Health, Health Safety, Health Education and Training. He is also consulting with the Tata Trusts for their Health Initiatives philanthropic projects, as a Technical Advisor.
